My first red stag, shot in the roar this year in Victoria.

I was chasing fallow in the rut this year with my boyfriend waiting for a croaking fallow buck when suddenly a huge roar from five hundred yards behind us was made.

We turned around and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The beautiful animal was roaring every couple of minutes on top of a hill in the distance. We took off after him hoping he wouldn’t see us running below him. Once we got within 300 he looked just like the red deer off the Tooheys Beer Advertisment.

I took the shot and we were extremely happy with the outcome of how beautiful he was!

All those early mornings before and after work finally paid off.
